Romankey UMS003 1/12 Super Mobile Male Solo Body Big Guy Black Skin

The Romankey UMS003 "Big Guy" Black Skin body is an excellent 1/12 scale base for customs, particularly for characters like Venom. It offers great articulation for a bulky figure, though some joints can be stiff and the elbow bend is limited. A solid, fun body for posing!

This figure has great articulation! You can get it almost any pose that you want to, especially the poses that are displayed in the pictures. I gotta say that this Romankey toy feels sturdier than the previous Romankey body. The previous one felt fragile but this feels like it will stay in one piece for a while. The feet and hands are easy to take off without heat, but I definitely recommend people to use heat to switch out the feet just to prevent the ankle peg from breaking. A greater plus for me is the skin color. There's not many dark skinned blank bodies and then there's even fewer bodies that labeled as 'black' are just a lighter shade of tan. I'm glad that Romankey made sure that the actual look matches the wording. It would be cool to see another dark skinned body that was darker (Hobie Brown Spider Punk shade), but this one satisfies me enough.

Definitely a highly articulated figure, cool proportions and fun to play with. Main drawback is that the joints can be pretty stiff. The head for my copy refuses to come off the neck also so I haven't been able to use the alternative head.

I just got two of the Big Guys today and I like them but it does have some missed opportunities. 1. Articulation is what you'd expect from Romankey figures. Legs double jointed, full articulated feet, ankles, wrists, shoulders, arms, etc. The one issue I had with this area is the bend at the elbow. It's basically 90 degrees. It's not double jointed. You can still get some good poses and stuff from the figure despite that but....if you're a Romankey die hard or a custom figure person looking for that feature? That might be a disappointment. And while the midsection of the body articulates well, it doesn't bend foward as much as it does the other directions. And the legs articulation towards the head goes up pretty good but is somewhat limited. In other words, don't expect the Big Guy to touch his toes. He leans foward well but not Crazy Figure VB003 well. 2. The shoulder area around head kinda has a "Starscream" look. Starscream has those two airplane boosters on both sides of his head? That's how the shoulders on this can come across bc they are so high up around the head. They don't interfere with head articulation at all but atheistically? It can look off. Weird looking. 3. If you're into customs, RomanKey made a mistake here as far as custom sculpts go. The neck peg is a thin, stick like structure. No round peg on the head end. Just a stick like structure with an indention in the middle for snapping or catching purposes for the base sculpt. If you are a pro sculpt swapper, you may figure it out. But there are figures out there that are more custom head friendly. This isn't one of them. I went to the store today looking for tubes and anything I can find to fit the sculpt I want and it's been tedious. Romankey has to do better in this area bc one of the top things about buying these blanks is being to apply to sculpt you want. Some figures are easier to work with than others. However, when they make it unnecessarily difficult, it takes away from the experience. Now the sculpts they come with can be used of course. I have the Black and Yellow ones. The Black one has a Venom-like shape so those who wanna do that will be right home. The Yellow has one that can be worked with as well. 4. Because the body is so bulky, soft goods may be an issue. But I had a sleeveless tights I bought my Adam Muff I was able to get that on. So that's an option. But as far as fabric soft goods? I'm not sure. I would say try to get stuff that fit Adam Muff as his body is pretty big and bulky. I matched AM's legs to the Big Guy's for size and they're fairly similar. Overall, I do like the figure. It's good for posing, well articulated, quality made, etc. But it does some have misses that some may notice.
