    An amazing piece from Fantastic Model, what is essentially FanToys. This piece is gorgeous and brimming with character. Comparing him to the official MP Ultra Magnus, I notice the following visual differences: - MP Ultra Magnus appears bulkier and almost fatter in the face. FM version is slimmer, more articulated. - FM version is vastly more posable - FM version has darker, richer colours. Paint is almost shiny, compared to more matte plastic of the MP. Obviously the biggest difference between the MP and FM is that the FM is a true version of the character, with the armor covering the base robot, which turns into the cab of the truck, and a white version of Optimus Prime. The MP just has the cab as part of the truck mode, but it does not transform into a robot. Overall, an incredible piece. My only frustration is that the transformation is extremely complicated. The instruction manual is thick! Most of the challenge is with the smaller white robot which becomes the cab of the truck. Took me almost an hour to transform him first time I tried it. I likely won't be trying again. This isn't a play piece, it's a show piece. Still highly recommended.

    Just got this bad boy in. Thanks Bombusbee for the great deal!!! They have the best price for this guy and with some coupons used I am very satisfied that I didn't have to spend that outrageous price that he's selling for at other places. This is why I'll continue to support Bombusbee, they have the best deals. With that said, Ultra Magnus is right up there next to Optimus Prime as one of my favorite Autobots. I do have the Xtransbot version which I purchased from Bombusbee when it was originally released. I try not to get the same character over again but I do like both bots. I like the posability of XTB's version, which kind of reminds me of a toy in comparison to Fanstoys version which is more like a very high end piece of art that you don't want to mess around with too much and just admire it's beauty on the shelf.

    This is a terrific interpretation of the character. It doesn’t seem much different than the XTB version; until you have it in hand. Fanstoys maintains their superiority in materials, but the subtle differences in sculpture and design really stand out in person. I enjoy the armor gimmick, although it doesn’t seem much hinder the alt mode and transformation experience. All in all a recommendation.
