My Anticipation For What This Figure Holds
This figure has so many surface areas that glow-in-the-dark. It may just become a grail figure for me. This is a repaint based off of the "Unicron of Light" in the Armada TV show, when the minicons band together to form a green, glowing Unicron to combat the true Chaos Bringer. It was originally a lucky-draw deco with only 10 copies made, for a contest in Japan in 2004. Over a decade later, it was then paid homage to in another redeco involving several different shades of green, with color separation that I personally found more visually pleasing. 01 Studio Bacteria is a closer homage to the 2nd release, but its color separation is refined to match its own mold and transformation. The result is a highly visually pleasing Unicron of many shades of green, and transparent green plastic only on surfaces, not joints or high-tension areas. In planet mode, the entire planet's surface minus the equatorial area, his mouth, and his horns are in a sea of transparent green. All of the transparent green you see, in addition to his wings/rings, and his eyes are glow-in-the-dark (I will include pictures). This is the only non-KO figure I know of, that has glow-in-the-dark covering a significant enough part of the figure's body that you can tell what character it represents at a glance in the dark in both modes (other than Newage's Shining Magnus). His color scheme and show appearance is also perfect for such a gimmick. Of course, since he has transparent plastic. It would be wise to exercise additional caution when handling him. This is not a new figure, so I'll keep the rest short. In a short line of all the Unicron figures there have been, this one is surely a standout figure. What it lacks in size and gimmicks in planet mode mostly compared to the HasLab, it makes up for in affordability, availability, articulation, screen-accuracy, and most of all engineering. Before this, I would've never imagined an elegant Unicron bot mode capable of evenly distributing and/or hiding planet panels throughout his body and still being able to pose. His planet mode may not be perfect, but it is still elegantly round, and I personally find his collar turning into his planet maw to be very logical and clever in design. In addition, we're getting the planet ring upgrade integrated into these newer releases. Which is really worth it, because the upgrade kit was originally sold separately for 60 USD. Pictures are found on page 661of tfw2005's "Zeta Toys ZV-02 Core Star / 1Studio Cell (G1 Unicron) thread.
